Not A Display-Case Cuff. This Is Meant To Be Worn Hard And Worn Often

This large Sonoran gold turquoise cuff is another beautiful jewelry piece made by Matthew Charley, a Navajo silversmith and friend who visits us often in Gallup, New Mexico. We love his work and love how he often shares his recent creations with us straight from his workbench!

Matthew has much pride in his homeland - Diné Bikéyah - which he uses as inspiration in every jewelry piece he makes and is noticeable in every detailed stamp and shaping of this cuff.

Matthew takes the time to add hand stamped details in the areas not fully visible when worn. A testament to his dedication to excellence. The oxidized silver finish gives it an authentic character and depth. With Matthew's hallmark and XXIV NAVAJO STERLING stamped, the oxidized finish gives the silver a worn-in, honest look, like it’s already been places and is ready to go to a few more!

Set into the band is five natural Sonoran Gold turquoise stones, a newer gemstone that started showing up around 2019 near Cananea, Mexico. Recognized for its bright, almost two-tone color, lime green and aqua blue cut through with a golden-brown matrix, these stones are found as individual nuggets tucked into clay, which gives each one its own look and personality.

Real turquoise. Real silver. Real Navajo!

    WHY ELLIS TANNER TRADING COMPANY?

While Other Shops Focus On The "Sale," Ellis Focuses On The People

Ellis believes his business only succeeds when the Navajo and Native American community thrive.

Since 1967, Ellis - the “Little In-law” - has built more than a trading post; he’s built a business that honors the Navajo people and their way of life. Whether you’re admiring the Circle of Light Murals honoring Navajo leaders or browsing the largest library of Navajo authors, you’ll feel the difference: This isn't just a store. It is a pillar of the Four Sacred Mountains where every transaction is rooted in a lifetime of mutual respect.
