Description

This workbook is a must-have addition to your Navajo Language Learning whether you're learning to speak and write Navajo in High School or at university.

This workbook is the companion to the full textbook, Dine Bizaad Binahoo'aah: Rediscovering the Navajo Language.

The goal for the Workbook is two-fold:

  1. It is important for you to view Navajo elders as your source of information regarding the Navajo language, culture, lifestyle, traditions, and history. Throughout the Workbook, the activities identify the Navajo elders (parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, maternal and paternal aunts and uncles) as a source of first-hand knowledge. You are encouraged to visit Navajo elders to conduct research to obtain valuable information and knowledge. This activity helps you to reconnect with Navajo elders, learn from them, and in doing so, you will preserve the knowledge of the elders. You will also do your part in placing the teachings back in the lap of the elders. For those of you who are Navajo, you need not look to books as your source of information, instead, view your Navajo elders as your “encyclopedias"
  2. We want you to learn all four skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking. By working in the Workbook, you will be building on these four skills as you complete the assignments.

    WHY ELLIS TANNER TRADING COMPANY?

While Other Shops Focus On The "Sale," Ellis Focuses On The People

Ellis believes his business only succeeds when the Navajo and Native American community thrive.

Since 1967, Ellis - the “Little In-law” - has built more than a trading post; he’s built a business that honors the Navajo people and their way of life. Whether you’re admiring the Circle of Light Murals honoring Navajo leaders or browsing the largest library of Navajo authors, you’ll feel the difference: This isn't just a store. It is a pillar of the Four Sacred Mountains where every transaction is rooted in a lifetime of mutual respect.
